ART PSYCHOTHERAPY IN THE MUSEUM CONTEXT
Vortrag via Zoom mit Selbsterfahrungsanteil
Art psychotherapy in the museum context: The EMΣT Case
In this presentation, E. Ioannides will explore the integration of art psychotherapy within museum and gallery settings, with a focus on EMΣΤ’s long-running group art psychotherapy program “Exploring the Museum’s Images C Exploring My Image.”
Drawing on over two decades of curatorial and psychotherapeutic practice, the talk will present how contemporary art and the museum environment can become vehicles for emotional expression, reflection, and wellbeing. It will also introduce Greece’s pioneering “Art on Prescription” initiative, a national pilot program linking arts participation with healthcare, highlighting EMΣΤ’s role in its implementation.
Following the presentation and discussion, participants will be invited to engage experientially through a short art-making activity inspired by a selected artwork from the EMΣΤ collection, offering an opportunity to explore personal meanings through art.
